Loris Healthcare System Honors Employee & Nurse of the Year
First Time Award Given to Two Outstanding Individuals

Loris Healthcare System held its annual awards ceremony at the House of Blues on Friday, May 6.  Employees, physicians and board members were recognized for their outstanding work and dedication. 

Following a buffet-style dinner, service awards were distributed to employees, physicians and board members recognizing their years of service.  More than 180 employees, physicians and board members received awards for their years of dedication and commitment.

In the last year, nominations were made quarterly for Employee and Nurse of the Quarter.  These individuals are nominated by managers and peers.  All nomination forms are carefully reviewed and evaluated on quality of work, going beyond the expected level of performance, attitude and customer service. 

Prior to the awards ceremony, these outstanding individuals were reviewed, and two were selected as Employee and Nurse of the Year.  Receiving these distinguished honors were Social Worker, Tammie McPherson as Employee of the Year, and Doris Baynes, RN, Operating Room Technician, as the Nurse of the Year.

Ms Baynes joined the nursing staff in October 1995.   Her professionalism, caring, and willingness to assist wherever she is needed earned Doris her nomination.
Ms McPherson was described as a team player who consistently goes the extra mile in trying to find every avenue of assistance for patients and their families.  Tammie has been with Loris Healthcare System since January 2000. 

The other nominees for Employee of the Year included Tammy Wright, Vernell Blanton, and Sherri Wilson.  Nurse of the Year nominees included Patsy Stocks, RN, Martha Hopkins, NA, and Nancy Prince, CNA.
